The WIC Program provides supplemental nutritious foods and nutrition information for pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants and children to age 5 years. Breastfeeding information and support are also available for moms and their families. Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements, present proofs of identity, gross income and residency. Additionally, applicants must be determined to be at “nutritional risk” by a health professional.
Eligibility Requirements
Be a pregnant, breastfeeding or postpartum woman or a child Birth to 5 years of age, Be a resident of the state of Tennessee, Have a household gross income at or below 185% of federal poverty, and Be determined by a health professional at a county health department to be at nutritional or medical risk. At the first appointment, the applicant must be present along with parent/guardian (in the case of a child) and must provide proofs of residency, identity, and gross income for the household. It is also encouraged that the shot record (child) be available at the first visit. Call the local county health department for an appointment to apply.
