Centerstone’s Project BASIC (Better Attitudes and Skills In Children) has been serving elementary schools in Tennessee since 1985. Project BASIC provides educational, yet entertaining, activities to help young students build self-esteem and learn decision-making skills. The self-confidence development by Project BASIC will help students make good choices now and throughout the years to come. Prevention Specialists meet twice a month with children in individual, group or full classroom sessions using a variety of techniques and activities (stories, booklets and puppets).Through these activities, students develop a better self-concept and, as a result, come to expect more from themselves. The curriculum is in grades K-3 and is provided free of charge to students in participating schools.
