West Tennessee Parents as Teachers

 
 
 

The program serves families in Madison, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Gibson, Benton, Lake, Lauderdale, Dyer, Crockett, Chester, Decatur and McNairy Counties. The program is free and voluntary. Parents as Teachers enroll families prenatally up to 35 months old. Parent Educators meet with parents in the comfort of their home and cover a variety of topics including attachment and bonding, cognitive, gross motor, fine motor, problem solving, and social-emotional development, nutrition, positive discipline, and family specific values. Parent Educators monitor the child's growth and development and conduct screenings to ensure milestones are met within appropriate time frames. Parent Educators help connect families to community resources and events. The program conducts groups throughout the year to allow parents to learn together while bonding with other families. Parent Educators tailor information to support the families' concerns and interests through the Parents as Teachers curriculum. Parent Educators can support families until the child is 5 years old.

Eligibility Requirements

Families must be currently pregnant or enroll within the first 35 months of the child's life. families must reside in Madison , Hardeman, Hardin, haywood, Henderson, Gibson, Benton, Lake, Lauderdale, Dyer, Crockett, Chester, Decatur, and McNairy counties.
