Crockett Youth Academy (CYA) is a cooperative venture between the Crockett County Schools Systems and the Crockett County Juvenile Court. Crockett Academy addresses the of Middle and High School children who have committed detainable offenses and have been determined will benefit from the program. CYA will address the needs of these children by providing for the child's education while teaching teamwork. Discipline and life skills are used to instill a sense of pride and self-discipline.
Eligibility Requirements
Middle and High School children who have committed detainable offenses and whom the court has determined will benefit from placement in a program that is a combination of regimented discipline with an educational approach. Participants must meet physical and mental standards. Crockett Academy addresses the needs of middle and high school children who: 1) have committed detainable offenses, and are at-risk of entering state custody. 2) have been petitioned to the court for status offenses. 3) have been referred by parents whose children are out of control and are at risk of being petitioned to the court on unruly charges. 4) have been assigned by the Discipline Hearing Authority for unruly behavior in school. 5) have been assigned by the Discipline Hearing Authority for Zero Tolerance offenses. 6) have been assigned by the Truancy Board or Juvenile Judge on truancy charges.
