Mothers, fathers and other caregivers play an important part in their child’s development. Involvement in a child’s life contributes to emotional security. One of the most important things caregivers can do is to spend time with their child and let the child know he or she is loved and protected.
With busy schedules, schoolwork and smart phones, it can be hard for families and loved ones to find time to spend together.
The good news is that there are simple low (or no) cost things that families and loved ones can do together to strengthen ties and boost emotional health.
- Eating meals together,
- Reading books for fun,
- Talking about hopes and dreams,
- Exercising or visiting one of Tennessee’s state parks,
- Volunteering together,
- And starting a new family tradition.
