Adventure Quest

At-risk middle school students are encouraged to work together as a group to solve a series of initiatives and challenges presented in eleven one hour school sessions, and a trip to a daylong Ropes Course experience. Reflecting upon the experience the students are asked to apply the situations to other areas of their lives. The goal of the program is to reduce the risk factors associated with alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs by improving self-esteem, decision-making skills, and social skills.

Eligibility Requirements

Any student in a middle school within the service area (Cocke, Grainger, Hamblen, Jefferson, or Union) can be referred to Adventure Quest by someone at the school. The students are referred for one of three categories: Economically Disadvantaged, Experiencing Family Disruption, and Youth with Low School Performance/Truancy.
