Voluntary Pre-K Program
The goal of every Tennessee Pre-K classroom is to provide our 4-year-old children with the learning experiences they need in order to succeed in kindergarten. The Tennessee Voluntary Pre-K Program will prepare children for school by providing an opportunity for them to develop school readiness skills in an environment that fosters the love and joy of learning. Participation in the Pre-K program will help children develop pre-academic and social skills that will help them in their education.
All children must be four years of age on or before August 15 of the upcoming school year and their family's income must meet the income eligibility requirements as determined each year by the Federal Department of Health and Human Services. If space is available, the program may serve other children who meet the age criteria but have other at risk factors. Registration is held in the spring of each school year and throughout the summer and the beginning of the school year.
