Relative Caregiver Program - Northeast, Smoky Mountain, & East Regions
We are a free program assisting blood-relative caregivers (Grandparents, Aunts/Uncles, Cousins) who have custody & are raising children/neice's/nephews. The goal is to keep children out of state custody. We provide referrals, support, monthly groups, education, quarterly enrichments/outings, advocacy, and a one-time emergency financial assistance. We are funded through a grant from DCS.
To qualify for this program you must: 1. Contact the RCP Director or Family Advocates 2. Show 2 proofs of a the blood-relationship such as: Court Documents CTFM Sign In Lists Birth Certificates 3. Show proof of income for all adults in the home Note: A family must meet the established HUD guidelines at 200% of the current year's poverty level [staff will help you in this determination] 4. Once you are in the RCP, it is a voluntary process to attend any event. However, a family must consent to either monthly or quarterly home visits [to be determined by staff] to remain in the program.
