Anger Management Classes
TVC provides anger management classes for youth that focus on the emotion of anger, appropriate expression of emotion and emotional regulation, identification of triggers and stressors, interpersonal relationships, problem solving and conflict resolution, and positive behavior and communication skills.
Classes are available through the DCS Direct Purchase Authority or through TVC's Center for Family Driven Care. Curriculum is geared toward middle and high school students. Classes are available in the following regions: Davidson County, Mid Cumberland and South Central. Frequency/duration of sessions: Classes are one hour in length and meet once per week for a six week period. Location/setting: Class size ranges from 5 to 20, and classes held in the community, often in schools, community centers, family resource centers, or community agency offices. Evidence base: Curriculum is based on Purdue University curriculum for anger management, peer mediation skills, and basic conflict resolution and communication. Class instructor is trained in youth engagement and support, as well as delivery of curriculum.
